DIFFERENT RECIPIENT COPIES

One set of originals.
The right copy for each recipient.

An internal team and an external partner may need different parts of the same documents. Prepare each copy in its own delivery version.

Prepare the first version

Add your PDFs, arrange the included pages and mark the details that should be removed. The workspace begins with a Primary version. Rename it when that helps you identify its purpose. A version name is a local label; it is not inserted into exported PDF contents or default filenames.

Start another recipient copy

Choose “New version” and enter a distinct name. Its included pages, order and rotation start from the currently selected version. By default it starts without marks or finding rules. Select “Keep the current marks and finding rules” only when those are a useful starting point for this recipient.

Every copied page needs a fresh review, even when you keep the marks. Check the private details and what this recipient should be able to see. One version’s later changes do not update another.

Work in the selected version

The selector and review bar identify your current version. Page order, removal, rotation, marks, finding terms and review are separate. Adding a new PDF adds its pages only to the current version; the source bytes are shared by versions within this project. Undo changes pages and marks only in the selected version.

A project supports up to five versions, with up to 100 pages in each. Its original files share a combined 30 MB limit. Delete a version you no longer need; this changes the workspace, and only updates a saved project when you save again. Keep your original documents separately.

Build and inspect the intended copy

Review every included page in this version. Open “Review & export” and check the displayed delivery version name before confirming. Build one combined PDF or a separate-PDF ZIP for this version’s included sources. Other versions are excluded.

Switching versions clears the old prepared download. Inspect the newly built copy before sharing it, and give its file a suitable name if needed. Exports contain new page images with the marked pixels covered. Unmarked visible information remains visible. Text search, text selection, accessibility tags, valid signatures and interactive features are lost.

Save all versions for later

“Save on device” keeps the original files and all versions, including names, finding terms, page order, marks and review state, without uploading them. This storage is unencrypted and may be cleared by the browser. Only use a trusted device.

Two open tabs can have different versions of a saved project. If another tab updates or deletes it, saving is blocked so you do not overwrite its latest state. Use “Save a separate copy” to keep your changes, or close and reopen the saved project. Close and reload older Forty PDF tabs after the storage update. Previously saved single-version projects remain available and are upgraded only when you choose to save.
